LETTER FROM TENZIN DORJE

Taken from a Letter to Rigpe Dorje Centre
From Tenzin Dorjee
Pullahari Monastery, Nepal

I am sending Ven. Ngawang Chodak Rinpoche and Acharya Lhakpa Tsering to Rigpe Dorje Centre.

Ngawang Chodak Rinpoche, the incarnation of Chag-Tsal Lama in Bhutan, was brought up by the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche from the young age of 10 years. He began training and education in Rumtek Monastery and later in Lava Kagyu Thekchen Ling Monastery. In 1997, he successfully completed the traditional 3-year Mahamudra retreat under the masters Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Bokhar Rinpoche, Tenga Rinpoche and Drupon Khenpo Lodro Namgyal. He then served as our Vajramaster for several years, and is the abbot of Pullhari Monastery today.

Acharya Lhakpa Tsering is among the first batch of graduates of Rigpe Dorje Monastic Institute’s 13-year Shedra Programme in Lava Kagyu Thekchen Ling. He is also trained in rituals and was the Shedra’s Discipline Master. He works closely with Khenpo Sherab Gyaltsen in Rigpe Dorje Publications and is experienced in Tibetan publications.

Rinpoche will be in Montreal for 2 months from the end of May. While there, he will benefit the Centre through teachings, pujas and empowerments as needed. He will work with our Board members to help plan the on-going activities at the Centre. Acharya will stay on for 3 years.

We all know that is difficult to carry on an active Centre without a qualified Resident Teacher. But is it is essential from your side to create a conducive and supportive environment for our Acharya, especially since he will be there on his own. Harmony, respectful conduct and a cooperative attitude towards each other are necessary for a successful working team. We must trust and enjoy each other’s company so that our service does not become an ordeal.

The Centre is a sacred ground, a spiritual oasis for the people. When you enter its door, you pay respect to its holy objects of refuge, and maintain vigilance of body, speech and mind conduct in our relationship with each other. This is basic in our cultivation of the Path.

I plan to visit Rigpe Dorje Canada in the near future. It has been many years since I was there and I look forward to meeting all our members and friends, and to get together again with those I already know from the time I was there with the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche.

With prayers and best wishes,

Tenzin Dorjee
