Acharya Choying Gyurmey
in preparation for Losar, the Tibetan New Year of the Male Iron Rat.
February 22 and 23
10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
According to Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Mahakala Puja is done at this time in order to purify any personal or collective negative deeds of the past year; and to welcome the New Year with a pure motivation and open heart for the benefit of all beings, for peace and harmony around the world.
DONATIONS WELCOME: please give what you can.
12:30 lunch break: If you can, please contribute some vegetarian food to a potluck meal to be shared by those participating in the retreat.
Following the final session of Mahakala, the New Year will be welcomed with the traditional offering of khatas and a mandala offering followed by desert and tea.
Everyone is also encouraged to offer whatever is practical to Pullahari Monastery in Nepal for their Annual Mahakala Retreat, in support of the monks and to welcome the New Year of the Male Iron Rat with the aspiration for well being, peace and harmony around the world; to clear all personal and general obstacles, disease and negative karma. Making an offering can result in the same fruition as performing Mahakala – a great way to accumulate merit.
