Venerable Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
Refuge, Lay Precepts and Bodhisattva Vow and Chenrezig (Bodhisattva of Compassion) Empowerment
Saturday, August 26 & Sunday, August 27
10 a.m. – noon & 2 – 4 p.m.
Born in 1950 in Kham, East Tibet, Bardor Tulku Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa at a very early age as the third incarnation of Terchen Barway Dorje. After his escape from Tibet as a boy, and the completion of many years of study and practice in India under the tutelage of His Holiness, Rinpoche accompanied him on his world tours in 1974 and 1976. In 1977, at the request of His Holiness, Rinpoche became a seminal and integral part of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra, the Karmapa’s North American Seat in Woodstock, New York for more than 30 years. He is founder and spiritual director of Kunzang Palchen Ling in Red Hook, N.Y.
Rinpoche has been a teacher, spiritual guide and friend to Rigpe Dorje Centre and to many members of the Centre since its inception. He is lovingly and gratefully known as our “visiting resident Lama”.
Bardor Tulku Rinpoche will give teachings and bestow the vows with the following commitments:
Refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha: to follow the Buddhist path of compassion and loving kindness;
Lay Precepts: to undertake the moral discipline not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery, not to lie, and not to get intoxicated. The practitioner may take only one of these precepts or any combination of them.
Bodhisattva Vow: to relate to others with altruism and benevolence, aspiring to benefit all sentient beings in our Practice and in our actions.
The Chenrezig Empowerment is for blessing without any commitment.
