Full Moon Day
Vesak Day Celebration
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Vesak commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana (passing) of the Buddha.
This is a very special occasion for Buddhist practitioners. It is believed that during this sacred month, the effects of our actions, whether positive or negative, are greatly multiplied.
On this occasion, we will perform the ritual of Bathing the Buddha, recite the Treasury of Blessings (a meditation practice of Shakyamuni Buddha), chant the Heart Sutra, and conclude with a Lamp Offering.
Bathing the Buddha is especially auspicious, as it brings immeasurable blessings, merit, and wisdom. By offering fragrant water, we cultivate wisdom and compassion while purifying our three karmas: body, speech, and mind.
The Treasury of Blessings Sadhana is a simple and beautiful meditation on Shakyamuni Buddha that is accessible to everyone.
The Heart Sutra presents the essence of the Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom), revealing the profound path taught in the sutras.
Through the Lamp Offering, we offer light with the aspiration that obstacles to both personal and global peace may be removed, and that happiness, love, and compassion may flourish for the benefit of all beings.
