Invitation to Hanging of Tibetan prayer flags

Saturday, May 1, starting at 10 a.m.

Invitation to join Acharya Choying Gyurmey in the hanging of Tibetan prayer flags, the ceremony of Smoke Offering and the Offering of Light. We will first meet in the back courtyard at our centre, then continue with prayers and the conclusion of the ceremonies in our shrine room. A wonderful event to mark the reopening of our centre for in-person activities.

Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. It is believed that the prayers and mantras printed on these flags will be blown by the wind to spread good will and compassion into all-pervading space. Prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.

A Sang Offering (smoke offering) is a Tibetan Buddhist practice. Fragrant incense smoke is offered to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, the supreme enlightened beings and all sentient beings to accumulate merit, purify our past negative karma and repay our karmic debts.

We offer Light, in the form of candles or butter lamps, to dispel the darkness of ignorance. We aspire that obstacles to personal and global peace be overcome and that conditions for happiness, love and compassion arise for all beings.

You will also have the opportunity to browse the great number of second-hand books for sale that we received recently.

Please come directly to our back courtyard, access by the alley.
