Medicine Buddha and Green Tara Practices and Empowerments with Venerable Lama Tashi Dondup

[IN PERSON ONLY]

Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As some of you may remember, Ven. Lama Tashi Dondup offered the Guru Rinpoche empowerment at our Centre two years ago. We are very grateful that he has accepted our invitation to return this spring and will be offering the Medicine Buddha and Green Tara practices and empowerments.

Many of us feel a strong connection with Lama Tashi, since our root guru, H.E. the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche (the founder of the Rigpe Dorje Centre and Foundation) was one of Lama Tashi’s root gurus and authorized him to give empowerments.

At the Centre, we practice several sadhanas (chanting meditations) every month that are associated with an enlightened being or deity, including Guru Rinpoche, Medicine Buddha, and Green Tara. In the Vajrayana tradition, an empowerment is a ritual associated with a particular sadhana, which is performed by a qualified lama in order to plant the seed of enlightenment in participants by helping them to realize the non-duality of their mind and the mind of the deity. Gathering together as a sangha to practice and receive an empowerment for a sadhana creates a very auspicious connection with the dharma, the lama, and the lineage, and plants the seed of liberation in our mind streams in a special way.

On the first day, April 11, we will gather for Medicine Buddha group practice in the morning and receive the Medicine Buddha empowerment in the afternoon. This practice focuses on healing, purification of negative karma, and bringing benefit to ourselves and all sentient beings who suffer from physical or mental illness and hardships.

On the second day, April 12, which is Dakini Day, we will do Green Tara group practice in the morning, followed by the Green Tara empowerment in the afternoon. In the Vajrayana tradition, Green Tara is known as the swift mother, who responds quickly to the prayers of beings, helping to remove obstacles, fears, and difficulties in day-to-day life as well as on the path to enlightenment.

Everyone is warmly welcome to join us for this precious opportunity to accumulate merit, purify obscurations, and deepen our path of compassion and wisdom.

Lama Tashi teaches in Tibetan. We will have translation into English, with simultaneous translation into French and Chinese. Please bring your device and earphones to access the French or Chinese translation.
